Teen Tech Week is Coming

Hey one and all!

Coming up in March is Teen Tech Week. We’ve got some fun activities planned. Stay tuned for more information.

Wednesday Club for February 13

Wednesday Club for February 13 is a Valentine’s Day treat – make your own candy. Take it home for yourself, a friend or family member, or your special Valentine. I think I saw strawberries and chocolate…. Come check it out!

Another New Face

Hey All!

There is another new face on the young adult library staff. Her name is Keren Camean. She is here to help Miss Kathy with the Wednesday (used to be Thursday) Club. She is a senior business and marketing major at Salve Regina University currently living in Newport, but she calls Old Lyme, Connecticut home. Coming from such a rural shoreline town, she has loved the change of living in Newport for the last four years and is very excited that the Wednesday Club will allow her to take part in the community. She is excited to work with some of Newport’s teen scene, and already our first activity “paint your own fish bowl” (where members got to take home their very own fish!) seems to have been a hit and a hard act to follow, but she is certainly up for the challenge. Much planning has already been done for activities in the upcoming months and she is hoping the club members will be eager to participate and have fun!

New YA Librarian

There is a new librarian in YA (yeah that's what we call your space). My name is Ms. Becky. You'll be seeing me around Mondays through Thursdays and occasionally on Fridays and Saturdays. I’m really looking forward to meeting “all y’all” and finding out what you like to do. I’ve already seen a couple of your my space pages. You seem to have a ton of varied interests so there sure is a lot for me to learn. I won’t be at your awesome Wednesday (used to be Thursday) Club meetings, those are Ms. Kathy’s deal, but I do hope we can do some other fun stuff together at the library.
So, if you see me, come say “hi” and let me know who you are.

Thursday Club is Now On Wednesday.

Hey all!
The Thursday Club has been moved to Wednesdays! Guess we’ll have to call it the Wednesday Club now. Join us for snacks, crafts and socializing with our new student aide Keren.

Beginning Wednesday, February 6, we’ll meet from 3:30-4:30 in the Program Room – just ask at the YA desk or circulation desk if you don’t know where that it. It is free, there is no registration required and we always have fun.

Crafts for February include make your own fish tanks, candy making and Henna tattoos.
