Wednesday Club



Wednesday Club - April 29

This week we are getting creative and messy - just watch the rugs and walls please:-)

The Wednesday club will be creating their own Tie-Dye T-Shirts. Old hat? Come show off your creativity and practice your teaching skills as you help others. Novice tie-dyer? Ms. Kathy and Ms. Kasia, and maybe some great teens, will be available to help you.

Ink and t-shirts (while supplies last) will be provided along with yummy snacks.

Wednesday Club



Wednesday Club, April 22


All teens in grades 6-12 are invited to spice up their wardrobe by designing their own spray-painted t-shirt. Supplies, including paint, glitter, and t-shirts (while they last) will be provided. Join us for an hour of creativity. This program is being offered for a second week to allow more teens to participate!

Snacks will be provided.

No sign-up necessary, but teens wanting a t-shirt should tell a YA librarian by Tuesday, April 21st .

Read Across Rhode Island


One Book * One State * Literally

The 2009 book selection for Reading Across Rhode Island is Five Skies by Ron Carlson.

The goal of Read Across Rhode Island is to promote literacy and reading by involving the entire state is discussion surrounding one great book. The project is sponsored by Providence Public Library. They schedule a number of programs and events surrounding the book including breakfast with the author.

A copy of the book can be obtained free at you local library.

Vacation Week Wednesday Club

After you peel your parents off the ceiling because they just finished their taxes, come join the Wednesday Club in our Children's program room from 3:30 - 4:3opm where you can show off your creativity and sense of style making your own T-Shirt. Paint, glitter, stencils, T-Shirts and snacks provided.

A signed behavior contract is required to participate. YA librarians are available at the library, nptya@newportlibraryri.org or 401-847-8720 ext. 206 for questions or a contract.

Vacation Week Activities


On Tuesday and Thursday of School Vacation Week- April 14 and 16 - the Newport Public Library will make board games available in the YA Department from 2-9pm for local teens and tweens to come in and play.

Vacation Week Activities



As part of our School Vacation Week Celebration,
all teens and tweens in Newport are invited to come to the library and play with our PS2 games console from 5-6pm. We have DDR, Karaoke, and Guitar Hero.

Potter League Poster Contest

RELEASE YOUR INNER ARTIST

The Potter League is sponsoring a poster contest for anyone in grades 1-8. The theme for grades 5-8 is “Missing Pet? Call Animal Control and Potter League for Animals.”

The deadline is April 24.
Awards will be given during an event to be held on May 6th at the Education Center of the new Potter League for Animals.

Come join the Wednesday Club in our Children's program room from 3:30 - 4:3opm for an Easter Egg Hunt. Bring your own baskets, or at least a paper bag, and we'll have a great time chasing down Peter Cottentail's sweet treats.
