Summer Reading Program

The young adult department completed their summer reading program on Thursday, August 13 with a pizza party, book give away, grand prize raffle and movie night. The teens thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Our program this year had 15 active readers who completed a total of 100 books in 5 weeks. Nine of these teens complete the required 6 or more books during that time frame. We had participants from as far away as Switzerland (visiting for the summer) and one young lady who left the program early to spend the year sailing around the world. All of the teens were creative, active and very interesting. In addition to devouring some fantastic books, these young people expressed their creativity through duct tape creations, chocolate fruit dipping, spray painting T-Shirts, Karaoke, Guitar Hero and DDR on our PlayStation 2, and scrapbooking. It was a successful program enjoyed by teens and YA librarians alike and we look forward to another exciting summer in 2010.
